The responders are deployed to appropriate calls by the ambulance service’s Emergency Medical Dispatch Centre.The programme is an enhancement to the service’s existing ambulance resources and each scheme works locally with Scottish Ambulance Service staff to ensure their skills are updated regularly through ongoing refresher training in basic life saving skills and the use of medical equipment.
 

Medical Emergencies can happen at any time.

There are several things you can do to help us in an emergency.

• Call 999 immediately
• If you know the recovery position, and you can safely do so put the casualty in the recovery position
• If you have a repeat prescription , look it out, and give it to the First responder, it helps at the hospital.
• Look out for us, mark the house by sending someone outside if possible.
• Keep calm, help is on the way, talk to the casualty, keep them calm.
